The mission was a trench coat in a fun colour. What we found: a vintage Dolce & Gabbana sweater with no tags, a RED Valentino denim dress, navy YSL heels for $59.99, a Scott McClintock velvet gown and one $5 brass frame easel that finally came home.

Intro

I have a budget of $130 left to thrift this fall. Recently we thrifted a vintage LeSportsac bag for $3. And today we're looking for a trench coat in a fun colour. Let's go to the thrift store.

The brass frame

Oh my goodness, I was searching for one of these all summer. Do you know what it is? It's a vintage photo frame, but people are using it to hold their iPad. I love this trend, especially because it can be secondhand. It's $5, so let's put it in our cart and think about it.

Dolce & Gabbana, a music box, and RED Valentino

Oh no, this is a vintage Dolce & Gabbana sweater. At least at $10. But we need to inspect this further. Let's flip it inside out. I don't see any tags on the inside, which is bad, even though it's a great material. I only picked this up because it's Dolce & Gabbana. The sweater doesn't fit in my wardrobe.

Oh my goodness, I wish this went with my room. Look at this adorable music box. The front says Paris, the back says London, and it has a little ballerina that dances. This is so precious. I wish I knew a little girl to give this to. The colour and the art on it are just so sweet. Look at the ladies on the front of the box. I just adore them.

Another semi-designer piece: this is a RED Valentino dress. RED is a diffusion line from Valentino, so it's a bit more affordable than their runway, let's say. But let's look at the piece, ignoring the designer label. That's a lot of frills on the bottom. I don't love blue jean on myself. Also, the fabric is quite thick. And if this was Forever 21, I would not be holding it, so it's a no.

Sparkly things and mysteries

Lately I've just been grabbing anything sparkly at the thrift store. And look at these doorknobs. They're gorgeous. The package is missing one. I like that someone maybe used what they needed and then donated the rest. Wait a second, I think there's even an original price tag on the back. Originally $20 at HomeSense. They're $10 at the thrift store. And unfortunately, I don't need these, even though they are really pretty.

I actually don't really know what this is. It's some sort of necklace and it has a little lid. Let me see if I can get it off to show you. I think this is super beautiful. I don't know anything about it, so I would love to hear what it is if anyone knows.

Speaking of no: the dog thing where you crack your beer on its nose.

It wasn't until I held this up in the camera reflection that I saw it had writing on the front. I think it means "burning", but please correct me if I'm wrong. I like it without the writing. I'm not big on text on clothing, so I think I'm going to say no. But otherwise, this could have been a really cool piece.

I really like this dress, but I didn't expect the bottom to flare out so far, which really isn't my style. And oh, tell me why these look like giant lobster claws. Do I try and put the lobster claws on my body? I want to know how they even got these pants to look like this.

Scott McClintock returns

Oh my goodness, Scott McClintock has made another appearance. Scott McClintock is the designer that made my birthday dress, if you've ever seen that video. I find his dresses are either beautiful and perfect, or maybe a little bit dated. This doesn't fit me, but it'd be perfect for, like, the Ren Faire. Honestly, this would make an awesome Halloween costume for someone who finds it.

Now, this was in the clothing. What the heck is this? Is it a big poofy skirt? I do love a big poofy skirt, except it's in white. Usually I find them in colours. I don't think I understand if this is clothing, though. To me, it actually looks like a curtain. This is a bit too big to be a shawl.

Not a jacket, but it is a cool corset top. I'm not sure if someone DIY'd it or if it came like this. Can any of you tell? It's kind of cool, though, but I'm wondering if it's a Halloween costume.

The jewellery box

Oh my goodness. Look at this adorable jewellery box. I am obsessed with the pattern. It's unlocked. If I get it, I would change the colour of the inside to a velvet red, I think. But even though I love it, I think it's just too big for my really tiny room. I don't know. Look at the outside. It's gorgeous. Let's put it in the cart.

Quick finds

So excited to try on this spider web, except it wasn't in the bag. Actually super disappointing, so I didn't get this. But my friend thrifted this: it's a vintage Roots sweater, 24 years old. And I liked the sailor top for Halloween, but the fabric was really bad.

These vintage YSL heels stopped me dead in my tracks, but I don't love that they're navy blue for my wardrobe. I would want them to be black, and I think $60 is a little steep, considering they're also pretty beat up.

This is the first time I've found a bronze horse. I love this horse, except, look, one of its ears is missing. No. If it had both ears, I probably would have been obliged to take this.

Could this be from that brand Our Place? I see a lot of their ads. Is their cookware any good? Does anyone have it? I like the colour.

Some sort of part for an Xbox? I'm not too sure. But oh, why did they give SpongeBob a chest? And even worse, why is it $18?

What came home

I have a confession: we didn't find a trench coat, but I'm definitely taking this for $5. And I love this, but I just don't have anyone in my life who would use this. And this beautiful jewellery box has to stay behind. I also texted all my friends about these heels, but no one really wanted them because they were dark blue and not black. That means this sweater is going home with my friend today. And for $5, I'm taking this vintage photo frame home to try and recreate this aesthetic myself.
